Do I Detect a Pattern Here?

I've been noticing a trend lately: reinvigorating old furniture with great patterns. Talented DIY-ers are ditching plain old paint in favor of unique designs. 

Can I tell you how much I love a good pattern? Colorful, classic and uplifting are the key words. Done wrong, they can be a disaster. That's probably what has prevented me from tackling them. What if I get 2/3 of the way done and find that the pattern doesn't match up? There's something to be said for classic finishes. Still, I have resolved to step out of my comfort zone more. And this is a really cool trend.
