The Switzerland of Makeup

I'm kind of a neutral gal. Sure, I love getting made up for a date with the hubs or when I'm feeling fancy, but for the most part I favor subtle hues. In all honesty, that's when I feel the prettiest. My husband agrees.

I've had my makeup done before, and I usually find myself trying to wipe some of it away in the nearest bathroom an hour later. Perhaps it's an aversion to drawing attention to myself, or simply that I don't feel like me. I like to look in the mirror and see an enhanced version of myself, not someone I don't recognize.

I can really appreciate gals who put on an elaborate face every morning. They are gorgeous, too, and their commitment to beauty is enviable. Maybe one day I will be more like that. It's just not where I am in life, and I choose to spend my little prep time applying products that will preserve my skin (i.e. sunscreen, eye cream, and serums). My weekday repertoire typically involves foundation, mascara, gel blush, brow powder/gel, and a little neutral eyeshadow. When I see the Kardashians, I think (among other things): "Sure, they look good...but exactly how long did that take?"

In honor of time-saving natural beauty, here a few looks that I'm really digging. Sure, they're wearing makeup (probably a lot), but they don't look like they are. And a lovely elegance shines right through.

Have a great weekend!
