Not many listen though. That's the problem.
A.A. Milne, Winnie-the-Pooh
Over the last several years, it has become tradition for Jared to spend his February break at a local non-profit farm just outside of town. They offer camps where the kiddos help care for the animals, bake, sled, and explore. No electronics in sight...just children in nature.
Jared loves this place. And I understand why. There is a certain peace that inserts itself into you once you cross that gate. I feel it, too.
The animals are happy and well cared for. What a life they have.
Jared is an animal person through and through. People, well, they are just okay. Animals, on the other hand, speak to his soul. Because of this amazing place, he gets the opportunity to bond with them up close. He knows the proper way to milk a cow ("Not like they do it on television, Mom!"), what each animal eats and how much, and what makes them happy.
Every day this week, I picked up a boy radiating happiness and content. Rosy cheeked and excited to tell me how the sheep baaa'd back and forth with him. How he pet a baby chick and it held his finger and wouldn't let go. How he built a fort in the woods and oh please let it still be there when I come back this summer!
This one is for you, Frosty. Rest in peace.
What a cool place! :) I can see why Jared loves it. :)

Oh, this place looks great. I love that these places exist for kids to go to - they should have them for adults too! Would love to spend the day with alpacas and build a fort... So pleased he had such a good time :)
