Birthdays are good for you.

Statistics show that the people who have the most live the longest.

Larry Lorenzoni

Last week was craaaazy. Aside from the norm, we also had Mario's birthday and Kiddo's school science fair. Oh, and two take home exams that I am scrambling to get done before their Wednesday and Thursday due dates. With only four weeks to go, this semester has ramped up big time.

Although it fell smack-dab in the middle of the week, it was so important to celebrate Mario's birthday. I came home from class, put together one of his favorite meals, and a whipped up a great chocolate peanut butter cake. Recipes to come this week. The rest of the evening was spent completing Jared's science poster. There is a reason there are stereotypes regarding parents and their kids' science projects. It may have been more work for us than it was for him.

We made it through relatively unscathed! Thank goodness Mario got home Wednesday . . . I don't know how I could have done it without his help and support.

My in-laws were so nice and bought our family a birthday dinner at an amazing little Italian restaurant not far from home. It is off the beaten path and such a lovely place. We wined and dined and let the week roll off our backs. The best kind of night.

Thanks to an ice storm that had been raging all day, we had the restaurant to ourselves. It was hands-down the best pasta I have ever had. I was kicking myself for forgetting my camera.

Saturday was a day spent home with the boys. I felt compelled to tackle my mound of school work, but realized that I wasn't going to be able to produce anything of much worth. Instead, I let myself off the hook. We somehow got to watching Food Network and never stopped. Our giant laundry pile is nearly gone and our house is a bit more tidy. That's productive enough for me.

Kiddo outdid even himself in the bedhead department. He was like a flaxen-haired Wolverine.

Sunday we went out for brunch. Afterward, I headed into town and worked at a local coffee shop for the remainder of the day. I am so glad I took the day off . . . I was on fire yesterday after a much-needed break.

That's all she wrote. Pretty exciting around here, no? Not so much. Happy Monday!

  3. The food looks amazing, and you had the restaurant to yourselves...that's even better. Although I am not a peanut butter person (except for reese's cups) I have to admit, that cake looks good. Your son's hair is not so bad, I think it's the age, my son love to walk out of the house without passing a brush thru his, so don't stress too much about your wolverine ;) Hope this last few weeks go by in a rush, and that you can finally relax!
