It's official: Portland is not rainy and gray. I've decided it is simply propaganda, meant to keep the masses at bay. It's an attractive place, after all, and traffic is bad enough, so why invite more people to the party? The rumors about the awesome food and great shopping are true, but the rain part is a farce. We've been here 10 whole weeks and have only seen it rain twice. See? Proof.

I am totally on to you. (Whoever you are.)

// Despite the 90 degree temps, which forced us to switch the air conditioning back on, I'm becoming obsessed with fall duds. (Case in point: this outfit.)

// Speaking of which, I've always thought ankle booties were for tiny women in tiny jeans (i.e. not me). Then the other day I came across a rack of various booties at TJ Maxx. I tried on a few and, shocking even myself, learned that I love them. (I also learned that I tend to favor the wedge kind.) I'm a little late to the game, as per usual, but this style guide will help prevent them from collecting dust in my closet, having fallen prey to the "cuter on the rack" syndrome. Goal for this week: buy a pair.

Also,

// The most popular clothing brands, not based on revenue, but by internet searches. (Because a Ralph Lauren skirt costs more than a Forever 21 skirt, but it doesn't necessarily mean they're more popular among shoppers.) The author, a Cornell student, has some pretty interesting perspectives on certain brands.

// These wardrobe basics. Almost my entire wardrobe is comprised of basics. So there's that.

Moving on...

// This article about a North Korean architect and his idea of a futurist world is so interesting.

// A post on the human condition, specifically the idea that nicer stuff will bring greater happiness. I read it three times.

// Two similarly great posts about finding happiness with what we have and knowing when to break away from Pinterest (and other outside influences).

// A minimalist blog design I'm smitten with. (Has anyone bought a prefab blog design? Is it easy to install? I'm afraid...)

// Downing raw apple cider vinegar as part of your daily routine. I've tried it before, but failed to find compelling evidence as to why I should put myself through that, so the scientist part of me was never persuaded to stick with it. But! It's the second ingredient in my allergy tonic, which is working wonders (wonders, I tell you!), so I'm giving it another go. I'm telling Biologist Sarah that we are conducting a small scale study and she's tentatively on board.

// Making deodorant. Would you believe it actually works? It does! (Though I can see Mario rolling his eyes all the way from South Dakota. He's positive I've gone totally and hopelessly crunchy.) (P.S. Didn't your mom ever tell you your eyes would stick that way if you didn't stop?)

// Finding a new (to me) blog is a beautiful thing. (I've been reevaluating my blogroll lately and tidying up + seeking out new reads.)

// I wish I was sailing.

Happy Sunday.

Weekend Links: clothing + happiness + health (and everything in between)

Sunday, September 21, 2014

This is one of those weeks where writing about a single topic seems insurmountable. Where attempting to organize my thoughts into a fluid post is a battle I won't win. So yet again, here's a post about what is on my mind as of late. A scary prospect, indeed.

Mario has been unreachable this week, so I've been flying solo. He travels a lot, and has for the 9+ years he's had this job, so this is nothing new. But trips to his company's headquarters are different. They mean a 3 hour time difference and nonstop meetings. I think I've heard his voice a combined total of 90 seconds in the last 24 hours. These are the weeks that remind me of his status as my best friend. I like discussing my day with him. Using him as a sounding board. Co-parenting with him. I miss him. Fortunately he'll be taking the red-eye home tonight and I'll be seeing his face tomorrow morning.

On top of single parenting, I've been fighting a cold. I am not a wuss by any means. Quite the opposite, in fact. But I've been wiped. After having so many breakthroughs in CrossFit last week, the last thing I want to do is lose my footing. But I had to stop, reevaluate, and realize that forcing myself to go when I have body aches and congestion is just plain dumb. I won't get much out of the class, and I'll leave feeling beaten and discouraged. My body is clearly telling me to take it easy. Why do that to my relationship with a workout I am connecting with... perhaps for the first time? I'm ever so slowly learning that it's okay to admit I don't have the capacity to tackle something. Realizing my limitations is not a sign of weakness, and I'll return tomorrow morning, having taken a couple classes off, ready to pick up where I left off.

This weekend brings Pumpkin Fest, an annual event in our town. Each year we compete to regain the World Record for the most lit jack 'o lanterns at one time (a status lost to a town in Illinois many years back). The whole town gets together. Yesterday the kids took to the schoolyard and carved over 130 pumpkins to submit. Kiddo's school also sets up a food stand and sells pulled pork sandwiches, pumpkin soup, apple crisp, and cider. It's one of the biggest fundraisers of the year. Friday will bring hours of peeling apples and pulling pork. Saturday night will be spent as a family, walking around looking at the miles of carved pumpkins. It's one of my favorite things about living here.

I'm having a serious pant crisis. I am between sizes right now, so my current pants look saggy and ill-fitting. I have many pairs of jeans in the next size down, survivors of our purge because they are so close to fitting, but I'm not quite there yet. I've vowed not to get caught up in dieting anymore, instead choosing to consume with intention. I'm a few days in to my 30-Day Paleo Challenge (put on through my local CrossFit), and am hoping it, along with regular workouts, will help shed the mere couple inches necessary to reach the next size down. In the meantime, I need something to wear that doesn't require constant pulling up. So yesterday I stopped by Kohl's (nothing I tried on struck my fancy), Maurice's (I'm not a fan of the crazy embellished back pockets... I don't mind it on others, it's simply not my thing), and finally Target (too low-waisted, a little too big or too small). I've essentially exhausted my local resources. Perhaps a visit to Old Navy is in order (though last time I wasn't impressed).

I am really not that picky! I think this conundrum all stems from a serious commitment I made to only buying things that fit me now, thus escaping the if I lose 5 pounds it will fit perfectly trap I've fallen into most of my adult life. If I lose weight, great, but I am unwavering when it comes to abandoning a love-hate relationship with food, exercise and clothing. Any suggestions on some cute, inexpensive in-between jeans?

This week I have gone about releasing some anxiety about my class and research. My cells are alive and growing again on the first go (yeah!), and I'm training someone to take over for me in December; which has proven challenging but also fun. Instead of getting bogged down by the difficulty of my current class, I'm starting to look forward to the freedom that will come in just a month and a half. Although there is a lot of work to be done between now and then, once I walk out of the final I will be free to do a lot of the things I've abandoned over the last few years. I've discussed this before, but I'm excited to devour my reading list, to pick up some lost hobbies, and to gain the ability to leave work and actually leave it. No more late night study sessions, Sundays spent with my head in a book at Starbucks, and exam anxiety.

Kiddo's class is going to learn how knit and put a call out for needles and yarn this week. As I was stopping by local thrift stores in search of some to donate (7 pairs for $2!), I realized how much I miss having a skill like that. At one time I was crazy about crochet, but never advanced beyond scarves and blankets before giving it up.

It's so easy to forget how close I am. More school is in my future, but I'm going to really try to enjoy the in-between... which is mere weeks away.

Goals:
  • Read one book a week. For pleasure.
  • Finally learn how to use Photoshop properly. Start by dusting off the how-to book Mario bought me on the subject.
  • Take an online photography class. Use my tripod. There are some great online photography courses. The time to turn my camera to manual and leave it there has long since passed.
  • Fully commit to overall health. I'm on my way to this, but adding a 4th fitness class during the week and making a long-term commitment to weeding out food sensitivities/eating clean are musts.
  • Pick up a new or old hobby. Candy Crush Saga is not a hobby. Have Kiddo teach me his new found kitting skills; attempt to crochet something other than straight rows, like a hat (and wear it proud... even if it's lopsided); needle felting ornaments for family this year; take a sewing class... the possibilities are endless.
  • Date my husband. Weekly or at least biweekly. Kiddo isn't going to be at home forever, as we have faith that he won't be playing Dungeons and Dragons in our basement bedroom at the age of 40, so it's about time we got used to spending alone time together. It's good to enjoy the company of the person you share a bed with. And to see grownup movies that do not have "Marvel Comics" in the opening credits once in a while.
  • Figure out what the fuss over The Walking Dead, Breaking Bad and numerous other shows is all about.

This, that and the other.

George Orwell, 1984

This week has been weird. Tuesday was a disaster, and although the rest of the week was looking rosy by comparison, little blogging took place. I simply felt overwhelmed by life as we all do on occasion.

Today was a good day. Apparently I have a knack for cell culture, because I nervously looked under the microscope to find a flask full of beautiful lung cells. I did it! On my first try! This biologist is over the moon. With only two weeks left of summer research, I've reached my goal early.

Instead of my usual High Five post, I'm going to give you a glimpse of what life has looked like as of late. Happy Friday!

I needed some fresh air this morning, so I locked up the lab and walked the few blocks to a favorite coffee shop. A latte and breakfast sandwich made everything better. // Spumoni with the husband on my lunch break yesterday. His fave. // Mario invented this Buffalo Chicken pasta salad using only the leftovers lingering in our fridge. Like, OMG. That man has talent. // Tuesday morning definitely called for smoked salmon sandwiched between carbs. I reserve the right to eat bagels any time a mouse invades my personal space.

I put Kiddo on this bus at 6:45 this morning. He's on a school trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC. I love that he's having this experience, but having him in the big city without his parents makes me go into mama protection mode. I want my baby bear close. On the plus side, Mario and I are going to have a late dinner date after my CrossFit class. // It's a shorts bonanza 'round these parts. Discount codes made them a steal. // Interval training. All week. I've been trying to improve my speed and endurance, and this is the way to get there. I'm tired. // The reason my new shorts still have tags on them. Brrrr. It's June, right?

A dinner date with my main man earlier this week while Mario was out of town. I just adore him.

Winston was gelatinous with fatigue.

Shopping for anything but food and tp simply hasn't happened much this semester. My cup runneth over at Christmastime, so I wanted for nothing, then things got busy. I also resolved to lighten our load in the "things" department.

I simply couldn't resist, however, when Manda was offering a shop special. I ordered one of her wrap bracelets and a single bracelet (the yellow one). They arrived on Friday, just hours before my honors convocation. It was love at first sight and I wore them to the ceremony. I have man wrists (i.e. thick), so I was a bit concerned, but they fit perfectly and relaxed a bit with subsequent wearings. These will be my go-to accessories for summer.

Note: I ordered and paid for these on my own. Manda didn't even know I had a blog until I asked if I could feature them. I simply love her jewelry. And her blog. I've read it since I started this here blog.

Last Thursday, my aunts, grandma and I hit up a great new outlet mall. My lovely Aunt Pam bought me a Fossil watch (my favorite!) but thought it was too similar to my current watch. Instead, she gave me some graduation money and told me to buy something fun and just for me. I believe it sounded something like "no buying groceries with this!". She's awesome.

I sprung for this bag which instantly caught my eye. It was marked at $98, but on a sale rack (I'm way too frugal for full price Fossil bags)... and it rang up at $30. Score! It has that shiny finish on the outside that keeps the material from staining and the cross-body strap makes it perfect for this summer's travels.

Aunt Pam did gift me with this watch . I'm a big fan of Bungalow 360 and other eco friendly accessory companies, but had never heard of iSprout. Darling! I've worn it every day since.

Mario's family was still in town on Monday, so I suggested we take them out for a bit of shopping. I had a Sephora gift card burning a hole in my pocket courtesy of my lovely friend Molly, so the trip was a bit self serving.

I received a deluxe sample of this powder foundation with a Sephora order a couple months ago and finally got around to trying it. I love it! I have fairly light skin and was so surprised that the sample color matched my skin tone perfectly. I have never been one for powder-based products, but this is the exception. It has physical sunscreens (a MUST for me), glides over my base products (serum, sunscreen) without balling up, and lasts all day. My skin looks natural and retains moisture like crazy. It literally takes seconds to apply to my whole face. Good stuff.

Although I love Anthropologie and want to live in their stores, I don't get there often. I decided to stop in and scored some sweet swag. I'm a fan of this type of super soft headband and had to scoop up these pretty colors. They are the perfect shades for me... and they won't dent my fine hair.

I also couldn't walk away from this bronze owl doorstop. Our bedroom has a sliding glass door which creates a cross-breeze that  leads to loud door slams as our bedroom door is blown shut. This little (but heavy) guy is the perfect remedy.

If I'm honest, I have no idea where to put this rabbit hook. Jared saw it and was instantly smitten (as he is with most animal-themed things) and the $7 price tag convinced me to take it home. He was just too funky and cute to pass up. I'm sure we will find the perfect place for him.

I received so many sweet gifts from family. Although I'm certainly not a traditional college student, they rallied around me and showed so much love. All those wonderful treasures were unexpected but appreciated. So much.

My other aunt, Cindy, is an amazing photographer. She and my grandma gave me a tripod and remote system for my camera. I can't wait to put them to use!

The most profound gift, perhaps, was this:

A brand new stethoscope. I hadn't even thought about the fact that I will need one for PA school and it reminded me how close I am to my dream career. It is an acknowledgement of the hard work I've done. In the moment I opened that box, I realized how much the people around me believe in me. Mario's mom, dad, and grandma came together to give this to me. My eyes well up just thinking about it. I have so much to be grateful for!

Now it's back to frugality until our month-long summer vacation. I am fortunate to have been sought out for summer research. Not only is it exciting, and will look great on my grad school applications, but it will keep me busy during the post-semester period that usually leaves me prone to restlessness. And it's paid. I will have my own paycheck for the first time in years! It won't cover our mortgage, sure, but isn't intended to. It's about the feeling that comes from doing. Plus, the few extra nickels will leave us feeling less squeezed come vacation time.

Update (3/17/14): It bums me out to do this, but I can no longer, in good conscience, recommend the above jewelry shop. While I still love those bracelets, and will continue to wear them, I had a terrible experience with my second order; an ordeal that dragged on for over 8 months and resulted in no product. (I'm still disappointed, after everything, that I didn't get them. I'm hoping to find another person that makes a similar style. I'll let you know if I do.) You can read my account here. I would never want anyone else to go through that, and based on my experience, I'm guessing others have.

Pretty Little Things

The question is: what are we busy about?

Henry David Thoreau

Ahhh, Monday. Time to get productive again. Although I aspired to hang at my favorite new coffee shop while being studious yesterday, alas. This girl didn't leave the house. Nor did I get ahead on schoolwork.

After these two events happened in a single day, I thought I was going to have to abandon my new hangout. Fortunately, I discovered a parking area about a block away that lets me plug the meter for 8 whole hours. Do you know how many blog posts essays I can write in that time? Resolution reached.

On Saturday Mario and I reached a level of productivity we have not attained in a some time. We went through the entire contents of Jared's dresser, had him try on everything, and sorted into piles for consignment, thrift store, and Planet Aid. Then we headed out to remedy his clothing situation. Or lack thereof.

I never imaged needing to step foot in an Abercrombie store. I'm not an, um, Abercrombie girl. I like their clothes, sure, but they don't like hips. So while I desperately wanted to fit into their clothes as a teenager, in adulthood I resigned myself to the fact that they simply weren't made for me. Kiddo, on the other hand, is made exactly for their clothes. He has a long, skinny torso and broad, muscular shoulders. And he's a bit sensory when it comes to clothing, so he is really attracted to the softness of their cotton (how do they do that?!). So we made the pilgrimage to an Abercrombie Kids store to load up on his go-to shirts and jeans. Price-wise they are pretty affordable ($12 tees) and totally worth having Kiddo get dressed without a fuss on school mornings. There is nothing pretentious about his affinity for their clothing... though in high school it seemed that was the only reason my peers wore it. I can't step into one of their stores without flashbacks to my nerdier years.

During our shopping excursion, I scored two graduation dresses and a maxi skirt I can't get enough of. And I wasn't even looking. The skirt and brown polka dot dress (which is SO much cuter in person) are courtesy of Loft Outlet. I am graduating with honors, which means I will be attending two ceremonies. So I need two dresses that can go under my gown but won't clash with it. They also need to be comfortable because I will be wearing them for hours and hours. These two cuties fit the bill. They are spring-y, soft, and the perfect material for whatever the weather decides to do that day.  The polka dot dress is from Gap. I saw it and kept my fingers crossed the whole time I was trying it on... I really wanted it to be as cute on as it was on the rack. It didn't disappoint. And 30% off dresses told me it was meant to be.

This is my dressing room face. I am not the girl that looks good in everything. Trying things on is a chore. And an ego blow. It definitely reminded me how much better I feel when I eat right and exercise regularly.

Sunday was a lazy kind of day. The boys watched movies, I caught up on some DVR'd shows and laundry. I baked cookies for the boys (and let's be honest, me), and enjoyed a leisurely day.

For dinner Mario barbequed homemade pizza.. because our deck is finally snow-free for the first time in 6 months. I like to call it stream-of-consciousness pizza. I literally walk through the store and grab whatever strikes my fancy. No plan. I pick out dough, and as I do my other shopping I pick up ingredients that catch my eye. Last night was natural green olives (they taste like regular black olives, but smoother and more buttery), garlic with jalapenos (ooofta...they were hot. I sliced them very thin), peppadew sweet peppers, sweet Italian sausage, and smoked mozzarella sliced very thin. Mario threw on some fresh Parmesan and carmelized onions. Every time we do this, we both declare it to be the best pizza we've ever had. And no two pizzas are ever alike. Yum.

This week is Kiddo's spring break. Mario took the week off to spend with him. After dual dentist appointments tomorrow morning, they are heading to NYC to explore the city and visit with Mario's brother who lives in Brooklyn. We've been there many times, but we never feel like we've explored enough... there is just so much to see.

This means I have the week to focus on wrapping up the semester. No running Jared to the YMCA for lessons between classes. No getting up at 6a. I can stay out and study as late as I'd like and give schoolwork my undivided attention... without guilt. My goal is to wrap up as many assignments as I can over the next five days. I may even take an evening yoga class for the first time in ages.

In honor of this week of freedom, I made Kiddo pancakes from scratch for breakfast. Now I am at my caffeine-filled hangout plugging away for a bit.

It is not enough to be busy...

and before Saturday according to Rebecca Black. Also the most annoying day of the week now.

Aaron Peckham

This week has been tough but fulfilling. Personal and academic breakthroughs made the I don't know if I can get all this done moments worthwhile.  Because I got it done. All of it.

1. Mr. Vista is home!  Although terribly traumatized by his collar, he is so much better and well on his way to getting back to normal. There have been more and more glimpses of the mischievous Vista we know and love over the last couple days.
2. Avocados may just be the best food in the whole wide world. Although I dig avocados in general, these bad boys were picked fresh from a tree. In California. A coworker sent Mario home with a big bag of them and I have been savoring every moment.
3.  This girl hit the gym this morning. For the first time this semester. I have been gloomy and stressed and feeling progressively more out of shape climbing the 3 flights of stairs to the Biology floor several times per day.  So I finally did something about it. I dusted off my sneakers (No really. Everything in my locker was coated in a layer of dust. As if to remind me that I am a slacker.) and climbed on the elliptical, expecting to be miserable. I wasn't! The hour flew by and before I knew it I had finished over 5 miles. Can I tell you how good I feel right now? I am not someone who likes exercise, but my body was clearly craving this. Can I be reminded of this morning next time I decide to be my own worst enemy?
4. Loft (my new BFF) was having a 50% everything sale earlier this week, so I splurged on several dressier shirts. This beautiful lace one showed up within a couple days and the other two should make an appearance soon. It is oh so lovely.
5. I am the proud owner of a brand spanking new cap and gown. Because unlike high school, in college you don't have to recycle the stinky duds worn by previous classes. Boy is graduation becoming real. In about a month I will be wearing this bad boy while walking across a stage to claim a really important rolled up piece of paper.

Tomorrow I am presenting at my first academic conference. I set up at 8:15a, but don't present until 4:15p, so it will be a long day spent learning about all kinds of research. I have doubted myself so many times throughout this project, but I did it and will have this accomplishment to my name forever. Afterward, the boys and I are going out for a celebratory dinner.

In other news, Mario has started sporting giant noise-reducing headphones. In public. A fact I find endlessly entertaining.

Happy Friday!

Everything else – it’s just the weather.

An amazing thing happened this week: the clouds parted and blue skies prevailed. We've had a peek of them here and there, but for the most part it has been gray for the last few months, as if the world were in monochrome. You led me astray, Punxsutawney Phil.

While the weather is anything but pleasant, looking up to sunshine and brilliant blue skies has me feeling, well, better. Uplifted. Optimistic.

In the spirit of blue skies and good things to come, my loves this fine Thursday are sky-hued.

I put down that I had 3 eggs... but they were Cadbury chocolate eggs.

Caroline Rhea

I have missed posting my loves the last couple weeks! I'm back! Well ... better late than never, right?

I have been totally out of touch with the Easter holiday. Up until a few days ago, I actually thought it was about a month away. Yesterday I made an early morning visit to Target and did all my Easter shopping. Somewhere in that hour and a half (yes, I was in there that long), the Easter spirit finally found me. I can't wait to have the boys wake up to a basket of goodies on Sunday.

We don't usually do anything spectacular, instead opting to spend the day together at home. We dye eggs the night before, and usually make a nice Easter dinner, but we don't go overboard on the gifts and festivities. It is really just a day to enjoy each other.  I'm looking forward to it!

This week I am loving ...

These neutral jackets. Love! They are fresh, spring-y and belong in my closet. [linen & cotton print heritage topper/Audrey asymmetrical blazer]

In continuing with my new found Easter spirit, I'm really loving these treats! In my hands these cookies wouldn't look quite so amazing, but the nests and cupcakes could certainly make an appearance at my house this weekend. [cookies 1/cupcakes/cookies 2/nests]

This stuff is magic and I can't get enough. It was a Birchbox sample that I finally got around to trying this week. You can use it instead of foundation or underneath. I use my regular products (serum, sunscreen, eye serum) then apply this. It blends in seamlessly, renders foundation totally unnecessary, and it doesn't ball up (my biggest beauty product pet peeve).

I only need a couple dabs to cover my whole face, and they sent a deluxe size sample so it should last for a bit. I was afraid to look at the price since it is true love, but I can handle the $27 tag. I typically skip traditional foundation when the temperature rises, so this will likely be my spring and summer go-to skin product. [Marcelle BB Cream in Golden Glow]

Short and sweet. About six weeks to go and blogging will probably come back into focus for me. I've missed the level of investment I had before this last semester and its craziness ensued, but I simply have to keep my eye on the prize. Sweet dreams!

I'm sensing a spring thing going on around here. As in, I'm craving it. Despite the fact that we are under a winter storm warning, and if we are lucky, facing a much-welcome snow day tomorrow. I suppose I can put off spring for one more week.

My loves, this fine Thursday, are floral prints. I'm not talking Hawaiian print muumuus here. Nah. Delicate, colorful and oh so cheerful is the name of the game. I have always been attracted to the Shabby Chic style, but these are little more spring-y and a little less vintage-y. Don't worry Rachel Ashwell. You know I can't quit you.

Boden Swishy Jersey Skirt

I've talked about this before, but I love Boden. They have this laid back style that is so chic and so, well, me. If I had to pick one brand to wear forever, they would be it. Unfortunately, their prices don't always please (think full price J. Crew and up). Yet every month a new catalog shows up in my mailbox and my love is renewed.

The latest edition was no exception. Beautiful cuts and prints...even their pj's called to me. I favor more casual looks at this point in my life, but I am constantly ripping out pages and tucking them away for career wear inspiration.

There was just something about this catalog. It made me crave spring. I also felt a little less like wearing elastic waist pants and Uggs every day after flipping through it. Needless to say, I will be staking out the sale section in the months to come.

I, too, want to live in this magical Boden world full of sock buns, cobblestone streets, and lattes.

Crush-worthy Duds

My anxious anticipation for the spring season. The need for a little brightening. A newly painted buttery yellow room. Seeing the sun before 7:30a for the first time in months.

Already a fan of yellow (it is my all around favorite color), I find myself gravitating toward this sunny hue more than usual lately. Actively seeking it out, really. While I'm not exactly sure why, the reasons listed above are sure possibilities.

So it is only natural that my loves, on this fine Thursday, are all about yellow. Just try not to feel cheerier. I double dog dare you.

Even if Blogger decides you have not earned the right to center your Pinterest sources today.

 1. Not only do I love the color, I love the flavor. No, not banana. Least favorite food next to liver. Oh my. What I meant to say is that I could eat anything and everything lemon flavored. These lemon blueberry cupcakes are going to make an appearance at my house this weekend. [recipe courtesy of Annie's Eats]  2. This animal print comforter comes in queen size! I don't even care that it is from a children's company. Love. It. [Animales Graficos bedding, The Land of Nod]  3. These buttery yellow dishes are sure to brighten up any meal [Emma dinnerware, Pottery Barn]  4. The array of textures and cheery color sold me on this hoodie immediately [Channing hoodie, Sundance Catalog]

 5. I love yellow pants. In theory. Unfortunately, I find most to be unflattering, the wrong shade, or too sheer (i.e. good thing I tried them on while wearing black underwear...otherwise I might have really embarrassed myself). These are jeans and the perfect shade of yellow...I would wear them in a second. [Red Engine Cayenne Skinny Jeans in Buttercup, Garnet Hill]  6. I immediately fell for the cute delicacy and lemony color of these shoes. I would wear them now, if there wasn't a real threat of my toes falling off. [Lemon Crochet Women's Classics, Toms]  7.
